Comics Reviews: House of M- Masters of Evil

In a world rule by Magneto in which mutants are the dominant species, the Hood assembles a gang of the deadliest Sapien super-criminals. The plan is for them to get rich and get away with it. However, it is only a matter of time before their crimes attract the attention of Magneto and the rest of the mutants.

This trade was another gift from a dear friend of mine who is determined to make me love the Hood as much as she does. I have to admit that I am starting to come around to her way of thinking. I used to consider the Hood to be little more than a two-bit crook but now I'm coming to realise that he is pretty intelligent. He's still a bad guy, but he's a bad guy that thinks things through. It is debatable whether his big plan really is to fight for Sapien rights in a mutant dominated world or whether it is just a scheme to get rich.

I can't actually remember if I have read the original House of M, so I can't really say whether I liked it or not. I don't suppose that the events of the original event matter all that much now as most of the things that happened there have been undone in the comics now. Most of the important mutants that were de-powered got their powers back. Scarlet Witch is sane now and Hawkeye has come back to life.

I shouldn't be too upset that most of the villains ended up dying in the final battle against Magneto's forces as that would have been undone when reality returned to normal. At least they didn't go out like punks though.

I'm sot sure how I feel about the Hood's relationship with Madame Masque. I get the idea that Parker's relationship with Sara seems to be over, but I'm bot too sure about that. Then again, this isn't the 'real' Marvel Universe, so I guess it doesn't matter.
