Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo are back protecting New York City. However, the evil Shredder is back as well and is causing them trouble again. This time Shredder has joined forces with an alien warlord named Krang in an attempt to take over the world. Shredder even has his own pair of mutated henchmen in the form of Rocksteady and Bebop. The Turtles don't have to face the bad guys on their own this time as they still have April O'Neil on their side as well as a hockey mask-wearing vigilante called Casey Jones.
I quite enjoyed the first movie in this new series of Ninja Turtles movies, so you would imagine that my hopes were high for a sequel. Especially when it turned out that some old favourites from the old cartoon were going to appear. It seemed that anything that was missing from the previous movie found a place here. If I was a cynical sort I could say that this was little more than a desperate appeal to fans of the old cartoon.
I was happy to see Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang finally make an appearance in a live-action movie. Up until now we had only had pale imitations like Tokka and Rahzar from The Secret of the Ooze. Bebop and Rocksteady were undoubtedly my favourite part of the whole movie. They stole every scene they were in. It was weird to hear Krang with a deep voice, but I soon got over it.
Unfortunately, I wasn't too happy about Casey Jones in this movie though. I don't like Green Arrow and the actor who plays Casey here plays the title role in the Arrow TV show. His performance was pretty bland and he only wore Casey's famous hockey mask once. Disappointing.
Three pointy hats.
